The FarmLab is an association run by Silvia and Martin, in collaboration with Kordula, a herbalist and ceramist, and Hermann, a farmer and metalworker. The members include architects, sustainability experts, craftsmen, technologists and farmers who work collaboratively to foster a more sustainable future.

Martin Gutmann

Architect turned digital fabrication expert, Martin co-founded FarmLab, a rural innovation hub blending tradition with tech. From managing Fab Labs in the Barcelona area to crafting 3D-printed concrete at Baumit in Austria, he’s all about hands-on, high-tech making. A Fab Academy grad and engineering management MSc, he’s worked on EU projects like ROMI and taught digital fabrication. Passionate about sustainable design, robotics, and prototyping, he thrives where creativity meets fabrication.

Silvia Brandi

Silvia Brandi

Silvia Brandi is an architect and sustainability expert with extensive experience in leading EU-funded projects and directing non-profit organizations. She brings a deep understanding of circular design and nature-based solutions to the FarmLab, where she guides initiatives that connect rural knowledge with innovative practices. With a strong background in education from her work at ABACUS and IAAC in Barcelona, Silvia is committed to fostering interdisciplinary learning and empowering communities toward a sustainable future.
